Lewin Terrace opened in April of this year, bringing together the best of French and Japanese cuisines, in the heart of Singapore. Much has been written in praise of the excellent menu and dishes ‘to die for’. The food is good, very good and you should try it but today we are going to focus on the cocktails because they are so often overlooked by restaurant critics and yet it is the cocktails that set the standard for everything that follows.
Top chef Ryoichi Kano and chief sommelier, Daisuke Kawai both have enviable reputations in their own fields and have come together to create an exciting, joined-up delight for the palate that is truly world class. The cocktail list has been developed by renowned mixologist Atan Rasyidi, with more than one eye on the food and it evolves to reflect changes to the dishes and menu. That said, if there is something that you would like to try and it isn’t on the list, just ask and you too will be sipping your way through a bespoke cocktail uniquely tailored to your palate and preference.
Now you might think this all sounds like heaven and you wouldn’t be far wrong but it gets better. Lewin Terrace is one of the very few places in Singapore with a garden. Back in the 1930s the house used to belong to Major General E.O. Lewin, General Officer Commanding Singapore. Built in colonial style, Lewin Terrace has a lovely lush, green garden that offers space and above all, a sense of peace and calm in one of the world’s most intense cities.
